At the GARS O'Higgins research station (German Antarctic Receiving Station) in Antarctica, supplying staff and disposing of waste is a major challenge. About every 6 months, new supplies are brought in and household waste and garbage are disposed of. In order to reduce the transport volume, the waste has to be shredded on site. This is where our M450/2-360 twin-shaft shredder comes into play.
The material to be shredded is manually fed into the hopper and thus fed into the shredder. There it is shredded between two knife shafts. If required, the material feed is supported by a manually operated indenter positioned at the hopper. The material is discharged in free fall downwards into on-site containers.
Processing materials: Household waste, cans, PET bottles, glass, cardboard, canisters; throughput minimum
