Grinding sludge is produced during the grinding of metallic components. It is a mixture of metal and corundum abrasion in combination with the cooling lubricant used. Without processing, the grinding sludge is classified as hazardous waste and must be disposed of appropriately - this entails high costs. Pressing out grinding sludge to recover the high-quality cutting oils is a highly profitable recycling technology. This enables a reduction of the supplemental cooling lubricants by up to 90%, which leads to significant cost savings in production. The reduction of the sludge is the first step of the processing. Afterwards, the material can be briquetted and pressed more easily.
